Energy storage is increasingly required in applications where reliability cannot be treated as a convenience feature. Satellite communication, radar-related systems, and mobile field equipment need stable power under changing environmental conditions and demanding duty cycles.

The Pytes V12 battery has been deployed in Germany’s Space to Screen (S2S) satellite communication project, supporting the S2S Performance-M mobile antenna system developed with mtex antenna technology and Stellar PCS.

The system made its public debut at German Satellite Communications Day, hosted by the German Aerospace Center (DLR). For Pytes, the deployment extends V12 use beyond conventional residential and light commercial storage into a high-technology communication environment.

Power requirements for advanced communication systems

Satellite communication equipment places strict demands on the power system behind it. Output must remain stable, components need to handle field deployment, and the battery system must operate reliably in humidity, dust, low temperatures, and other real-world conditions.

In the S2S project, the V12 battery works with a Victron Energy inverter to deliver uninterrupted power for the antenna system. The deployment demonstrates how a storage product designed for harsh environments can support specialized infrastructure where downtime directly affects mission performance.

Why V12 fits this application

The Pytes V12 uses automotive-grade 230 Ah cells and provides 11.776 kWh of capacity per battery. Its enclosure is rated IP66 and certified for C4-M corrosion resistance, helping the system withstand humidity, salt spray, dust, and challenging outdoor conditions.

Integrated heating supports discharge performance down to -20°C, which is important for high-latitude deployments and winter operation. Safety features include a pre-charge circuit, DC breaker, emergency shutdown support, and an optional built-in fire suppression system.

A reference for high-challenge scenarios

The S2S Performance-M system became one of the notable innovations at the exhibition. Behind that public presentation, the energy system had to provide dependable support in a compact and mobile format.

For Pytes, the project is a reference point for applications where storage must meet higher validation standards than typical home backup systems. It shows that V12 can support communication infrastructure, mobile technical systems, and other demanding projects that require safety, durability, and environmental adaptability.

As energy storage expands into more specialized fields, project success will depend on close work between equipment manufacturers, system integrators, and application experts. The S2S deployment is a strong example of that cooperation.
